WARREN ELLISON ROBINSON

Posted on Nov 14, 2012 - 12:23 PM Printer Friendly View

Warren Ellison Robinson, 71, of Cookeville, Tenn., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, the fourth of November, 2012.

Warren had chosen cremation and funeral services at the family plot in Mobjack, Va. The services will be determined at a later date.

He was born on March 14, 1941 in Brooklyn, N.Y., and spent most of his life living in Virginia.

Warren, a retired naval officer with 25 years of service, had a diversified career. He was trained and served in many of the Navy’s most challenging fields of operation.

After retiring from the Navy, he became one of the owners and founders of a manufacturing corporation. The company grew rapidly and employed 1,000 people in Mexico, Taiwan, China and the home office in Lynchburg, Va.

He finally retired to his home in Mobjack in 2002.

Warren took up the hobby of scratch-built, plank-on-frame Chesapeake model fishing boats and his boats became sought after because of his attention to detail and authenticity. He was a member of the Mathews Art Group and participated in many art exhibits in the Chesapeake Bay area. He held boat-building classes in his workshop, which became his passion.

He also enjoyed cruising the East River and fishing and crabbing with his family in the Mobjack Bay area.

Due to a terminal illness diagnosed in 2006, Warren and his wife, Terry, moved to Cookeville, Tenn., in order to be close to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Ethel (Terry); two daughters, Cheryl O’Brien and Kelly McQueeney; two sons, Scott Robinson and Greg Robinson; along with two granddaughters, Alexis O’Brien and Ellis Robinson, and three grandsons, Owen, Finn and Liam McQueeney.

There will be a future notice regarding his funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lodge–Nashville, 2008 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, Tenn. 37203. The Robinson family also asks that you consider donating blood to the American Red Cross Society. http://www.redcrossblood.org/ in his name.
