VIRGINIA BROWN DIGGS

Virginia Brown Diggs (Ginny), 88, of Williamsburg, Va., passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011.

She was a native of Gwynn’s Island, Va., and a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Virginia was born to the late Luther and Annie Lee Brown on Aug. 7, 1922 on Gwynn’s Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon O. Diggs; seven brothers, and four sisters.

Virginia worked many years at Nick’s Seafood Restaurant in Yorktown. She retired in 2002 after 41 years as a school bus driver for York County.

She was a loving mother of two sons, Barry Diggs and Brian Diggs and wife Renee, all of Williamsburg. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ruth Rowe of Gloucester, and Betty Brown of Gwynn, Va. She was a grandmother to Chris, Steve, Eric and Hailey Diggs, and a great-grandmother to Dylan and River Diggs; a niece, Dolly Thompson, and a great-nephew, Bobby Lee, both of Gloucester, Va.

The family received friends on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial in Gwynn’s Island Cemetery.

Memorials may be made by donating blood at your local American Red Cross Chapter.
