A funeral for Velma L. Spriggs of Cologne, was held at noon Sunday in Union Prospect Church, Cologne. She died Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
She was a native of Mathews County, and was a member of Union Prospect Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Mariah Carey; two brothers, Richard and John Carey; and two sisters, Mary Gwynn and Isabel Carey.
The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey O. Smith conducted the service.
Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins, was in charge.
