ROBERT H. FAULKNER

Robert H. Faulkner, age 89, of Deltaville, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.

He was a retired funeral director of 52 years. He was a former co-owner of Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Tri-County Vault Co., and Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home.

Robert was a 38-year veteran of the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve and a WWII veteran. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church, where he was Trustee Emeritus and Sunday School Director for 31 years. Robert was a member, former Chief and Director of the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department for 64 years and a charter member of the Middlesex Lions Club. Robert also was a member and past Master of Donovan Lodge #75 AF&AM.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Nellie Faulkner, and brothers, James A. Faulkner and Charles W. Faulkner Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edith Johnson Faulkner; son, Robert A. Faulkner (Diane) of Hardyville; daughter, Robin F. Schmitt (Tom) of Yorktown; four grandchildren, Amy Faulkner-Hart (Jonathan), Mark A. Faulkner (Lauren), Brittany Hawn and Lance Hawn-Schmitt; a sister, Betty A. Minetree of Colonial Heights, and a brother, Thomas E. Faulkner of Newport News, and many nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at the funeral home. Interment with military honors was at Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery, Deltaville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zoar Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1010, Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 69, or Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 440, all of Deltaville, Va. 23043.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Gloucester House and Riverside Walter Reed Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
