NOVELIE GENELL FISK

Novelie Genell Gallimore Fisk of Newport News, Va., died on Aug. 26, 2011 at the age of 75.

A resident of Newport News since 1979, she was born in Bedford, Ohio, on Nov. 14, 1934, to Eddie Kline Gallimore and Arie Goad Gallimore, both of whom predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Gloeda Howell and Velveen Lunceford and by James Theodore Fisk, her beloved husband and best friend of more than 30 years, who died on Sept. 6, 2005.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her three daughters, Janice Nascimento, Audrey Bryant and her husband David, and Gloria Hobbs and her husband, Ricky. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Shannon Hatchett and her husband Justin Hatchett, Lindsay Gourley and her husband Travis Carpenter, Danielle Nascimento, Maggon Hobbs, Valerie Bryant, and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Hatchett and Dalton Hobbs.

She received her bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in philosophy from Christopher Newport University in 1991, and was an adjunct instructor at the University. She was employed in the legal field for more than 35 years and retired in 1996 from the law firm of Jones, Blechman, Woltz & Kelly, P.C.

Visitation for family and friends was held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at Weymouth Funeral Home, Newport News. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home. Interment will take place on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Suffolk.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Avenue, Nebraska City, Neb. 68410.
