NANCY H. PUGH

Nancy H. Pugh, age 89, of Mathews, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.

She was born Sept. 7, 1921. Nancy was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and its organist and choir director for 65 years. She was an organist at Central United Methodist Church for 14 years. She was also a 50-year-member of Oriental Chapter #30 Order of Eastern Star and a past Worthy Matron.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, George M. Pugh; mother and father, Annie C. Hudgins and Atwood E. Hudgins; sister, Thelma L. Hudgins; niece, Jeanette Tomlinson, and grandson, Tony Callis.

She is survived by a son, Charles M. Pugh Sr. and wife Carolyn; daughter, Virginia Anne Shipley and husband Jim; six grandchildren, Steve Callis, Nancy Whitman (Randy), Milton Pugh (Cherie), Mary Ann Faulkner (Keith), Suzanne Anderson (Robert), and Vicki Ambrose (Lawrence); 14 great-grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon and Curt Faulkner, Kelly Callis, Blaine Callis, Casey Hill, Conner Pugh, Lauren and Julie Ambrose, Nicholas and Nathaniel Whitman, Alyson, Logan and Luke Anderson; three great-great-grandchildren, Rylee, Lannah and Jaclyn Callis.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 22, 2011, at 3 p.m. in St. Paul United Methodist Church, Susan, Va., with burial in St. Paul Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. in the church.

Donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, Mathews Vol. Fire Department and/or Mathews Vol. Rescue Squad.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, is in charge of the arrangements.
