Muriel Shields Goldman, of Gloucester, formerly of Newport News, daughter of the late Leslie Clarence and Inez Underhill Shields, died July 7, 2012 at the age of 98.

Mrs. Goldman was preceded in death by her husband, MSgt William C. Goldman, U.S. Air Force, (retired), granddaughter, Leslie Lynn Shackelford, sister, Helen S. Quinn and three brothers, Leslie C. Shields, Jr., Richard U. Shields and Norwood S. Shields.

Survivors include daughter, Muriel G. Shackelford of Gloucester; two grandsons, Robert William Shackelford and wife Stephanie and Thomas Mark Shackelford and wife Angela; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Lauren Shackelford, Taylor Goldman Shackelford, Hunter Sanders Shackelford; one sister, Georgie Shields Swanson of Utah.

Graveside services conducted by the Rev. Daniel O. Worthington, will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News.
