Posted on Oct 03, 2012 - 11:25 AM Printer Friendly View

Marjorie Ann Henderson Permoda, 87, of Hampton, died Sept. 30, 2012 at Mary Immaculate Hospital.

She was a former resident of Gloucester and a very active member of St. Therese Catholic Church when she lived in Gloucester. After moving to Hampton she joined Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Marjorie enjoyed working in her gardens, and many beautiful flowers from her gardens were admired by everyone at St. Therese. She devoted her life in giving to others, working as a volunteer at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, delivering Meals on Wheels and always willing and lovingly providing rides to anyone who needed a ride. Marjorie was a devoted mother and a loyal friend to everyone and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel A. Permoda Sr.; daughter, Mary A. Glynn; sister, Mary Ellen Forbes, and brother, Wilbur Henderson Jr.

She is survived by son, Daniel A. Permoda Jr. of Urbanna, Va.; daughters, Judith P. Schultz and husband Rodger of Severna Park, Md., Donna L. Davis and husband Tim of Lake Park, Ga., Toni P. Marshall and husband Mike of Hampton, Va.; brother, Charles Carrol Henderson of Evans, Ga.; son-in-law, Francis Glynn of Yorktown, Va.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial conducted by the Rev. James Cowles was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Therese Catholic Church, Gloucester. Interment followed at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Arrangements by Hogg Funeral Home and Crematory, Gloucester Point.
