Kent Brian Cornell, 72, of Hayes, died March 14, 2011 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.
Kent was a native of Connecticut, and retired as an Electrical Engineer from Eaton Corporation. He was a member of United Methodist Church, Sandy Hook, Conn. Kent was a very active member of the Shriners in Connecticut and Gloucester, Va. He was Past Master of the Hiram Lodge No. 18, Potentate of the Pyramid Shriners in 1992, Royal Order of Jesters, Tidewater Shrine Club, Abingdon Ruritan Club, and Achilles Masonic Lodge, AF & AM No. 281.
He enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Kent loved his family, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by wife, Geraldine “Gerri”; children, Rebecca Slattery and husband William, Tracy Kean and husband Brian, David Cornell and wife JoAnne; grandchildren, Ryan Blais, Matthew DoVale, Cortney DoVale, Katelyn Kean, and Haley Kean; great-grandchildren, Ethan Baur and Niccolo Messina.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, in Newtown, Conn., with burial in Zoar Cemetery.
