KAY S. ARRINGTON

Posted on Feb 22, 2012 - 01:27 PM Printer Friendly View

Kay S. Arrington of Deltaville, succumbed to her illness at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital on Feb. 18, 2012, after a long, long, courageous battle with cancer.

Kay was born in Seoul, Korea, and came to America on July 7, 1959. She attended Western Maryland College in Westminster, Md., graduating with a B.S. in music, majoring in piano. She taught briefly in the public schools of Carroll County, Md., but spent years teaching private piano lessons in Frederick County, Md. In addition to her work with music, she worked 17 years in the bookkeeping/auditing department of Sears in Frederick, Md. During her retirement years in Deltaville, she worked at the Christchurch School Post Office.

Kay was a devoted wife and mother willing to make any sacrifice to help her family. She became a gourmet cook and was famous for her homemade egg rolls which she generously gave to friends and relatives. Kay enjoyed music, art and drama, and loved to eat out. She loved antiques and going to auctions and tag sales. The highlights of her life were: coming to America, graduating from college, getting married, becoming a U.S. citizen, having children and grandchildren.

Kay is survived by her husband, Ed Arrington of Deltaville; her daughter and family, Kim and Dave Osmond and their children Andrew, Justin and Cameron; a daughter-in-law, Tomara Arrington and children Kade and Olivia, a sister-in-law, Mary Lee Diffendal; cousins, Joe and June Lee. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Arrington.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda, Va. Burial will be at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Gist, Md., on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012.
