Jon B. Montgomery, age 75, of Bohannon, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012.
He attended and graduated from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M., after serving four years in the Navy.
He worked for the National Park Service for 34 years as a ranger, historian and superintendent. He retired from the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park in 1997. He moved to Mathews County in 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Mildred Ankenbruck Montgomery.
He is survived by his brother, David of Bohannon; two sons, Matthew and Roger, and three grandsons.
The body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in Appomattox at a later date.
