John Dobson Hogge Jr., 85, of Gloucester Point, died Dec. 30, 2012.

He retired from the Naval Weapons Station, Ordinance Dept., and was a member of Achilles Lodge #281 AF&AM and the Gloucester Moose Lodge.

John loved working in his yard and loved life, people, dancing, fishing and a "good" cigar.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Beulah Estelle Hogge, and his parents, John D. and Columbia Heywood Hogge.

He is survived by his son, Donnie Hogge; daughter, Juanita Joyce Ulmschneider; four grandchildren, Christopher Hogge, Jonathon Hogge, Victoria Johnson and Penny Hall, and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jullian and Jordan.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden. The family received friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
