JERRY ‘JERRY THE PAINTER’ WAYNE GADDIS JR.

Posted on May 23, 2018 - 01:02 PM Printer Friendly View

Jerry “Jerry the Painter” Wayne Gaddis Jr. of Gloucester died May 15, 2018 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital from complications of an auto accident. In keeping with Jerry’s loving and generous spirit, it was his decision to donate life so that others may live; he was the first organ donor in 15 years at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. Jerry was a sports enthusiast and devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, as well as an Oakland Raiders fan.

His father, Jerry Gaddis; sisters, Mae Rosell and Shannon West, preceded him in death. Survivors include his mother, Ann Gaddis Insley; sisters, Elizabeth Curtis (Dave) and Kendra Burland (William), and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Carol Bookwalter was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 22, 2018, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The family received friends from 10-11 before the service. Interment will be private at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.

Jerry requested friends to come in casual dress and wear a favorite sports team shirt.

In Jerry’s memory, please consider donations to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
