James O. Belvin Jr., age 87, of New Point, Va., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.

James was a retired waterman.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Oliver Belvin Sr. and Carrie Virginia Armistead; a sister, Merle Frederick, and a granddaughter, Tammy Sue West.

He is survived by his wife, Delma Belvin; four children, daughters, Brenda Hudgins and husband William, Leona Belvin, and Janet Keith and husband John; one son, James Oliver Belvin III and wife Ann; two sisters, Lois King and Carrie B. Poe; five grandchildren, Angela White, Lewis West, Tracy Respress, Kevin Dion, Brian Keith; four great-grandchildren, Christy Respress, Brandan Minor, Jessica Respress, and Brycen Keith, and two great-great-grandchildren, Nathan Stark and Justin Turner.

The family received friends Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va., with funeral services at 2 o’clock in the funeral home chapel conducted by the Rev. Ed Harrow Sr. Burial followed in St. Paul Annex Cemetery, Susan, Va.
