Posted on Jul 11, 2012 - 11:45 AM Printer Friendly View

Frances Morrette Krowe of Deltaville was born Nov. 17, 1933 in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Frank and Grace Morrette. Frances passed quietly and serenely on July 6, 2012 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Va.

A cherished, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Frances is survived by her husband of 58 years, Allen J. Krowe; her daughter, Vicki Krowe Carr; granddaughters, Melissa and Ashley Carr; her daughter, Valerie Krowe Shostak and son-in-law, Dean Shostak; granddaughters, Abigail, Josephine and Patricia Shostak; her sister, Doris Polites; her sister-in-law, Velma Krowe Gray and Douglas T. Gray, and numerous nephews and cousins.

Frances and Allen met and married in 1953 while attending the University of Maryland. Following Allen’s tour as an Air Force Pilot, they settled in Rockville, Md., and then Chappaqua, N.Y. Frances was a full partner in Allen’s long and fruitful career with first, IBM, and then Texaco and all that the family accomplished. After having lived and worked in New York and Connecticut for many years, upon retirement they jointly chose to acquire a home in Deltaville, as well as Ocean Reef, Key Largo, Fla.

A viewing was held at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda, Va. on Tuesday, July 10 from 6-8 p.m. A private interment followed by a Celebration of Life of this gracious, gentle, giving lady at Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Topping, Va. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Zoar Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1010 or the Maritime Museum in Deltaville, P.O. Box 466, both in Deltaville, Va. 23043.
