A graveside service for F. Spencer Beattie, 59, of Chilhowie, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, in the Beattie Cemetery in Chilhowie. He died Dec. 26, 2012.
He was a member of Chilhowie United Methodist Church, the Chilhowie Volunteer Fire Department, and the Chilhowie Apple Festival Committee. He had been a 911 Dispatcher for the Smythe County Sheriff’s Department for the past eight years.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Reedy Beattie; two daughters; his mother, Kathryn Chapman Beattie, formerly of Gloucester County; a brother, and two grandchildren.
