DOROTHY B. PIERCE

Dorothy B. Pierce, age 85, of Gloucester County, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joel and Mary Wilson; her husband, Owen S. Pierce, and her son, Robert Owen "Bobby" Pierce.

She is survived by her daughters, Betty Pierce Lombard (Joe), Joyce Pierce McGee (Dennis); sister, Carolyn Yarrington; brother-in-law, Charles Pierce; grandchildren, Anna Marie Moffitt (Chris), Forrest Jordan (Jennifer), Joey Lombard (Megan) and Chris Lombard; great-grandchildren, Kali, Scott, Nikki, Pierce, Logan and Leyton; nieces, Jeannie Pierce and Becky Brown, and nephew, Robbie Pierce.

Dot was raised in King and Queen County, and married Owen Pierce on June 7, 1947 and moved to Gloucester County where they lived the rest of their lives. Dot was known for her kindness and sense of humor. Anyone who ever ate her home cooking, either at her home, a picnic or New Hope United Methodist Church, knew she was a marvelous cook. Dot was a lifelong member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

She was close to all and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a positive influence in their lives. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt in a way that will always reflect her influences on them with her wisdom, wit and humor.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Hope United Methodist Church, Gloucester County, followed by interment in church cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, 2466 Lewis B. Puller Memorial Highway, Saluda, Va. 23149 or Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 1417, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
