Spring is in the air, and not just the cloud of pollen that has descended on every car, yard and window. Signs of spring are becoming more abundant as warmer weather begins to take hold. In top photo, an adult bald eagle circles around two eaglets on a North River pier at North. Perhaps they are learning more skills about flying; or perhaps they are learning to fish, to fulfill the proverb, "Give an eagle a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach an eagle to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." In bottom left photo, Marc Leydecker and his wife Sieglinde Goetz spotted this bucolic scene of a pair of horses under the shade of a flowering tree at Alfa Farms, their home on Glebe Hall Road in Gloucester. At bottom right, Joyce Pully of Gloucester Point saw this yellow- crowned night heron hunting for his breakfast near the York River in Hayes.
