The U.S. Postal Service will hold a series of meetings at community post offices in Gloucester and Mathews beginning today at Wicomico.
The purpose of the meetings, according to USPS communications coordinator Yvette Singh, is to discuss a survey that was sent to customers of the community post offices.
The meetings were originally scheduled for late October, but had to be postponed because of Hurricane Sandy.
According to Singh, each customer that holds post office boxes at specific post offices received questionnaires in the mail asking them to choose from a set of four options for the future of their post office.
Options customers could choose from included: keeping the post office open; discontinuing the post office and offering curbside delivery service; establishing a business-style post office that would sell stamps and other items, or providing service at a nearby post office.
