A 15-year-old youth was injured at around 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, when he was struck by a car at the corner of Hallieford and Godfreys Bay roads in Mathews.
Sgt. Greg Mathias, spokesman for the Virginia State Police, said that it appeared as though the young man had intentionally run in front of a passing vehicle. The motorist was driving approximately 15 mph under the speed limit at the time of the accident. No charges were filed against the driver.
The young man was taken by LifeEvac helicopter to the VCU Medical Center, Mathias said.
