Both Gloucester and Mathews counties have received an "A+" rating once again by the editors of Sunshine Review for some of the most transparent government websites in the nation. This is the third year Gloucester is being recognized and the second year Mathews has received the top honor.

The "2012 Sunny Award," is given to 214 government entities selected out of 6,000 government websites nationally. York and Chesterfield counties in Virginia also received the award for the outstanding rating.

"The Sunny Award recognizes governments that are doing an exemplary job at proactively disclosing information to taxpayers," said Michael Barnhart, president of Sunshine Review. "There are so many organizations and associations that highlight what is wrong with government. We at Sunshine Review are proud to acknowledge those who are doing it right and setting a transparency standard that all governments can, and should, meet."

Sunshine Review promotes transparency and affirmative disclosure at the state and local levels.
