Two major road construction projects continue to alter traffic patterns in and around Gloucester Court House.

Motorists driving through Gloucester Court House have seen some progress in construction of phase five of the Main Street Enhancement Project. The first half of the project on the northern side of the court circle is nearly finished and has been open to traffic for several weeks.

On the other end of Gloucester Court House, work is underway on the Fox Mill Bridge replacement project. Both northbound and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane on Business 17 throughout the project.

Construction on the second half of the Main Street Enhancement Project, on the southern side of the court circle, is also underway and is expected to be completed by Daffodil Festival weekend, March 24-25.

Garrey Curry, Gloucester’s director of public works, said though the work on the current side of the project may not be quite as involved, the lack of daylight and potential poor weather conditions during the winter months may slow progress.
