Registered voters will have an opportunity to cast their ballots for a number of local and state races this Tuesday. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in both Gloucester and Mathews.

In Gloucester’s contested races, voters will have an opportunity to cast their ballots for Holly Smith, the Republican nominee, or Conrad Bareford, an independent, for commonwealth’s attorney. Incumbent Bob Hicks is not running for reelection.

For sheriff in Gloucester, voters will choose between the incumbent Steve Gentry, an independent, and challengers Larry Rilee (the Republican nominee) and independents Ted Koehl and Clarence Bowser.

In board of supervisors races in Gloucester, Andy James, an independent, and Katie Thompson, the Democratic nominee, will face off for the Ware district seat, which is being vacated by Gregory Woodard, who is not seeking reelection. Robert "JJ" Orth, an independent, and Tommy Wheat, the Republican nominee, are vying for the Abingdon district seat, which is being vacated by Buddy Rilee, who is not seeking reelection. Voters will be able to choose between Richard Elmore, an independent, and Ashley Chriscoe, the Republican nominee, for the at-large seat on the board, which is being vacated by Michelle Ressler, who is not seeking reelection. Finally, in the Gloucester Point district race, voters will choose from the incumbent, Bobby Crewe, an independent, or his opponent, Chris Hutson, the Republican nominee.
