After months of work, including that of local residents and contractors, the house is finished, the show is set to kick off and viewers are able to enter to win the remodeled waterfront farmhouse.
Tonight’s premiere is more than just a reality television show to Mathews native Kathryn Tatterson. Tatterson’s grandparents owned the 19th century farmhouse for a period of time and Kathryn has fond memories of visiting her grandmother and enjoying the open fields, the expansive waterfront, and the country cooking that helped make the house a home.
Tatterson’s grandparents, Virginia Borum Tatterson and William Bernard Tatterson, bought the home from other relatives in the 1940s, she said. Her grandfather, a Mathews High School administrator and algebra teacher, passed away when she was 6. However, she remembers many times going to visit her grandmother, a retired elementary school teacher, with her cousins.
