Sprucing up Rosewell

Virginia State Parks Youth Conservation Corps supervisor Wes Brewer of Lynchburg, at left, and his crew member Alex Schultz of Fairfax braved the descent into the Rosewell mansion icehouse for a recent cleanout. The group, headquartered at Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster, also did some painting and grounds work at Rosewell before heading to the nearby Middle Peninsula State Park for a swim and a cookout. Belle Isle/Middle Peninsula Park manager Tim Shrader said the workday was part of the park’s partnership with its Rosewell neighbor. The Middle Peninsula park is not yet open to the public.
