The 2011 Gloucester County Fair and Carnival opened Tuesday at Ark Park, with its official opening ceremony scheduled for tonight, starting at 6:30.
Events are scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. through Friday, and from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday. After tonight’s opening ceremony, the Miss Gloucester County Fair Natural Beauty Pageant, for girls 18 and under, will be held at 7 p.m.
A new addition to this year’s fair will be free cornhole tournaments, which are scheduled for tonight, tomorrow and Saturday. Registration begins each night at 6 o’clock and tournament play starts at 7.
Other attractions will include a petting zoo and horse cart rides. Bingo, will be held on Friday and Saturday nights, and there will also be karaoke and a talent show tomorrow night.
The fair will open at noon Saturday, featuring a shooting gallery, 4-H lamb showmanship clinic, and a miniature horse show. Musical entertainment begins at 4 p.m., said Katey Legg, recreation supervisor for Gloucester’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.
Admission to the fair is free through today. Admission Friday and Saturday is $1 for children and $2 for adults. Parking and shuttle service at the fair grounds is free.
