A fire on Tuesday afternoon at 612 Morse Point Road in the Peary section of Port Haywood destroyed a garage and all its contents, including tools and several motorcycles, said Mathews Volunteer Fire Chief Ricky Tomlinson. In addition, it ignited a small brush fire and scorched the cover on a small boat on the property.

Tomlinson said that four engines, a rescue truck, and 20 volunteers responded to the scene. The fire is under investigation, he added.
