The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors voted 6-0 during a special meeting last Thursday afternoon in the colonial courthouse to grant a 90-day extension to property owners who received supplemental tax bills for improvements and additions made to their properties that were finalized in 2006.
The original due date of Feb. 7 for bills has been extended to May 9, according to county spokesperson Christi Lewis; the date for bills originally due March 1 was extended to May 30.
The matter first came before the board during its Feb. 15 meeting, when several supervisors brought up the issue that a number of residents had recently received tax bills on work that had been done on their properties. The bills had a due date of March 1.
County Administrator Brenda Garton said at last week’s meeting that the situation boiled down to a group of building permits not being picked up, at a time before the permit processes were computerized.
