The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved two shoreline improvement applications during a meeting Dec. 8 in the colonial courthouse.
Dockside Condominium Owners Association, Inc., received permission to install a drain field to disperse water from the rear of the building and replace a previously installed riprap revetment in order to stabilize the sloped shoreline at the rear of a six-unit condominium building. The property is located at 7809-7819 Sunset Drive and is adjacent to property situated along Sarah Creek.
Linda Walthall, permit technician in the Environmental Division of the Gloucester Codes Compliance Office, said the board voted 5-0 in favor of the Dockside application. Members present were chairman Walter Priest, vice chairman Norman Sibley, George Hayes and Bill Walker, and alternate Troy Andersen. Absent were secretary Bronco Bayless, members Rachel Strawn and Bill Minnick, and alternate Rick Klein.
Following a separate public hearing and the board’s 5-0 vote in favor, David and Susan Wiker were granted approval to install an 85-linear-foot stone sill, 12 feet wide. In addition, the Wikers were allowed to place 300 cubic yards of beach nourishment and 400 square feet of additional spartina plantings. The property is situated along the Perrin River at 2079 Riverwalk Road.
After its meeting, the board sat as the Gloucester County Chesapeake Bay Preservation and Erosion Commission. The commission held one hearing on a buffer modification application.
The commission voted 5-0 for an extension to a previously approved project. Elizabeth Van Hout said she needed additional time to complete a project to demolish an existing dwelling, Walthall said, and to construct a new single-family dwelling. The project is located at 2656 Gardner Lane on Sally Whites Creek.
