The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will hear updates on several matters Tuesday. The meeting in the colonial courthouse is scheduled to begin at 7 o’clock.
First, public utilities director Marty Schlesinger will present supervisors with its options regarding the Terrapin Cove area sewer extension project.
The board has discussed the sewer extension project over the course of several meetings, but has yet to make a decision. The project seemed to be a go until bids came in over twice of what was projected in the engineering estimate from 2013.
During the most recent discussion on the matter, several board members expressed concern that the extension would put the county at risk financially, while others said they thought the failing septic systems in the area will pose a public health threat if not addressed soon.
Schlesinger said many residents in the Terrapin Cove area are on their third septic system and some have no more room on their properties to place another system.
The board will also hear an update on the county’s reassessment, which is on track to be completed by Jan. 1, 2015 and an update on the county’s business development focus group.
