The Mathews Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Community Foundation serving Richmond and central Virginia, announced recently that it is accepting applications for its 2014 grants program. Organizations are invited to use the MCF website,, for directions and forms.
This year, Leslie Franklin has joined the MCF staff to assist in the grant process. Her role as a regional grants management associate is expected to make the grant submission and selection process more efficient and effective, according to grant committee chair Charlotte Martin.
Grant proposal forms have also been streamlined to reduce redundancy and the website has had a few changes to make it more user-friendly, Martin added.
A GiveMathews portrait, which provides information about the group, its management and finances, will be required of most organizations applying for a grant, she said. Churches, fire and rescue departments, public schools and government agencies will be exempt from that requirement.
“The portraits not only reduce the paperwork for grant submissions, but also provide nonprofit organizations an online presence and the ability to broaden their fundraising efforts,” Martin said.
