Members of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., found the boat of a missing Williamsburg fisherman Tuesday morning in the York River. According to AVFRS spokesperson Robert Parlett, the 14-foot jon boat was located at the end of Victory Hill Lane near Bena.

Virginia Marine Resources Commission spokesperson John Bull said a 56-year-old male was reported missing Tuesday morning around 9 o’clock after he had not returned home Monday night from a fishing trip in the York River.

According to Bull, the man, whose name is not being released at this time, left from Wormley Creek on the Yorktown side of the river around 4:30 p.m. Monday and told his family he should be home by 11:30 that night.

When the man hadn’t returned by Tuesday morning, his family reported him missing.
