A dedication ceremony to mark the handing over of the H. Bland Hudgins, M.D. Wing of the Mathews Memorial Library to Mathews County will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the library.
Jack Ward, charter member of the Friends of the Library, and county supervisor Charles Ingram will be the keynote speakers.
The ceremony will include presentation of the colors by Mathews Boy Scouts and musical selections by the Mathews High School chorus.
Bookmarks designed by Thomas Hunter Middle School art students will be given to those attending.
Strings and Things will perform before and after the ceremony, and there will be tours of the nearly-completed library addition, along with refreshments by Patsy Hemp.
Maree Morgan, chair of the building committee for the Friends, said the group had met the county’s fundraising match for the building, but still needs to raise $40,000 to finish funding the work. She said she expects construction to be completed in about a week and a half.
