With the Nov. 5 general election less than a month away, several community organizations have scheduled voter forums in the coming weeks.

The Middle Peninsula League of Voters (MidPenVOTE) will be hosting several of the forums, beginning this weekend, hoping to inform the public on the November election, in which there are a number of contested local races.

The Gloucester candidate forum will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the community room of the Gloucester Library, Main Street Center. Candidates for the Gloucester County School Board will open the program at 2; candidates for the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will discuss their platforms beginning at 3.

The next forum will give candidates for the 98th District Virginia House of Delegates seat—incumbent Republican Del. Keith Hodges and independent challenger Neena Putt—a chance to face off. This one is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday in Gloucester’s colonial courthouse. WXGM news and public affairs director Reese Williams will moderate both forums.

In Mathews, the combined candidate forum, in cooperation with the Mathews Woman’s Club, is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Mathews Memorial Library. Gloucester County School Board member Ann Burruss will moderate the forum.
