Gloucester supervisors and school board members have several weighty topics on the agenda Tuesday night when the two boards hold a joint meeting at 7 p.m. in the Gloucester High School auditorium.

Superintendent of Schools Ben Kiser will give an update on the ongoing renovations at T.C. Walker. The former elementary school building is being repurposed as office space for school administration and other uses.

The discussion is then expected to shift to the new Page Middle School construction, and the possibility of adding an alternate plan to the school that will allow for its use as an emergency shelter.

Next, Kiser is expected to provide a summary to the board of supervisors on exactly how the $5 million of borrowing it approved earlier this month for school roof and HVAC repairs will be used.

County administrator Brenda Garton will entertain a discussion on the old Page Middle School site and will conclude with a discussion on opportunities for consolidated services between the school system and the county.

There will be an opportunity for citizen comment on Tuesday night’s agenda. However, all comments will be limited to topics on the agenda.
