The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved three shoreline improvement applications during a meeting Dec. 12 in the colonial courthouse.

Lee O. White was granted authorization to construct a 195-linear-foot near-shore sill adjacent to property situated along the Piankatank River at 8053 River Watch Court, Linda Walthall, permit technician in the Environmental Division of the Gloucester Codes Compliance Office, said Dec. 17.

White also received permission to place two 30-foot groins, 125 cubic yards of beach nourishment, 200 square feet of Spartina patens, and a 12-foot by 20-foot covered deck channelward of mean low water at the property.

Following a separate public hearing, the board approved the request of Gregory and Ellen Duerksen to construct a 75-foot by 16-foot breakwater situated along the York River at 9280 Sandy Pines Lane. The Duerksens also got the go-ahead for placement of 300 yards of beach nourishment, 250 square feet of Spartina patens, and 1,250 square feet of Spartina alterniflora at the property.

In addition, Thomas M. Boyd received permission to construct a 130-linear-foot offshore sill and 20-linear-foot near-shore sill adjacent to property along the North River at 8719 Burgh Westra Lane. Walthall said the board also approved Boyd’s request for a 67-linear-foot backshore revetment, 200 cubic yards of beach nourishment, and 400 square feet of Spartina plantings.
