Wetlands board approves shoreline projects
The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved application for shoreline improvements during a meeting Oct. 10 in the colonial courthouse.
The board unanimously approved the application for Stephen T. O’Keefe, who sought authorization to construct five stone sill/breakwaters totaling 575 linear feet—one-foot plus above mean high water, said Linda Walthall, permit technician in the Gloucester Codes Compliance Office’s Environmental Department.
O’Keefe also was given the go-ahead to place 1,500 cubic yards of beach nourishment and 800 square feet of Spartina plantings adjacent to property situated along the Severn River at 9487 Rowes Point Road.
Following a separate hearing, the board voted to give applicant Earline W. Thomas, et al, up to two months to research some other alternatives for their shoreline project. Walthall said Oct. 15 the board may consider that application again at either its November or December meeting.
