Water damage affects two Gloucester non-profits

The ruins of the colonial-era Rosewell mansion were set to open to the public for the season on April 21. That morning, Rosewell Visitor Center office manager Wendy Gay arrived at work to find standing water on the first floor of the building.
Sandy Pait, chairman of the Rosewell Foundation Board of Directors, said a plumbing problem in a restroom led to the flooding. This week, dehumidifiers and fans continued to dry out the building as representatives from Rosewell and Fairfield worked to clear out the first floor for the recovery work.
"It looks like the insurance company will cover everything, more or less," Pait reported this week. She said the Rosewell board hopes to have a small, temporary trailer on the site by Friday so that Rosewell can open for visitors, possibly as early as this weekend. She said it will be four to six weeks before the Visitor Center will reopen to the public.
