Two residents treated for smoke inhalation following Severn fire
Two occupants of a home on Kings Creek Road in Severn were treated and transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation following a structure fire Monday morning.
Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue spokesman Robert Parlett said the first arriving units observed heavy fire coming from the upstairs windows of the home. Firefighters immediately took a hose line upstairs and brought the fire under control within five minutes.
Parlett said the fire was contained to the room of origin, while some damage extended into the attic.
The fire was reported just before 9:30 and all units remained on scene until 11:15 to completely extinguish and overhaul the burned portion of the home, Parlett added.
