Toddler injured in Windsor Road accident
A 3-year-old child sustained injuries in an accident on Windsor Road near the intersection with Buckley Hall Road on Monday and was flown by helicopter to a Norfolk hospital.
Sgt. Scott Edelman of the Virginia State Police said that, according to a report by Trooper A. Cavins, who handled the call, the single-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Edelman said the female driver was in a 2000 Dodge Dakota that ran off the road, struck a mailbox and culvert, and overturned. He said the child was not properly restrained, and was ejected from the vehicle.
Edelman did not release the name. He said that charges are pending against the driver, who is a Mathews resident.
