Supervisors to hear report on county’s reassessment
The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will hear a report on the county’s reassessment operations during its meeting Tuesday, beginning at 7 p.m. in the colonial courthouse.
The reassessment department is currently undergoing review by a consultant of how it completed last year’s reassessment.
After receiving a final report in the near future, board members will decide whether to continue to perform a reassessment in house or to dissolve the department and return to using an outside contractor to perform the work, according to county administrator Brenda Garton.
Currently, the next reassessment is scheduled to begin Jan. 1, 2012. However, Garton said the board will have to decide whether it will postpone that for another year, depending on if it decides to keep or dissolve the reassessment department.
