For the most part, things went smoothly as Gloucester County Public Schools greeted over 5,000 children on Tuesday. John Hutchinson, an assistant superintendent for the school division, said there were some glitches but most were minor and were fixed before the day was over.

"It was a good day, it really was. The attitudes were all positive," Hutchinson said. The air conditioning in the main office areas at Gloucester High School and Peasley Middle School was down for a while, Hutchinson said, but that involved a timer problem that was soon resolved.

Workers are still tweaking a newly-installed keyless entry system at GHS and there were some computer glitches in the cafeterias at GHS and Botetourt Elementary that are being remedied. Hutchinson said the transportation department is making a few bus route adjustments but noted that everyone got to school and back home safely on Tuesday. "Life is back in the buildings," he added.
