Planners recommend subdivision ordinance change

.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) | Posted on Feb 22, 2012 - 11:59 AM Printer Friendly View

The Mathews County Planning Commission, subsequent to a brief joint public hearing with the board of supervisors, voted Tuesday night to recommend approval of a proposed change to the county’s subdivision ordinance.

If approved by the board of supervisors, the change would delete one of two requirements for an environmental site assessment during the development of a subdivision. The requirement for such an assessment with a preliminary subdivision plat would be deleted, and the assessment would only be required with the submission of a plan of development for an individual lot.

The commission also voted to request that the board of supervisors hold a joint public hearing that the county adopt a text amendment in the zoning ordinance to allow the planning director to approve administrative variances in certain limited circumstances.
