Organizational meeting Tuesday for Gloucester supervisors
Newly elected members John Meyer (at large), Michael Winebarger (Petsworth) and Phil Bazzani (York) will join Robert “JJ” Orth (Abingdon), Andy James (Ware), Ashley Chriscoe (at large) and Chris Hutson (Gloucester Point) to make up the county’s governing body for the year ahead.
One of the first orders of business at Tuesday’s meeting, which will begin at 7 o’clock, will be the election of a chairman and vice chair.
A presentation is also scheduled before the supervisors about Dominion Virginia Power’s Gloucester Solar Panel Project.
Dominion Virginia Power will install more than 2,000 solar panels on the rooftop of Canon Virginia, Inc.’s (CVI) Industrial Resource Technologies (IRT) facility in Gloucester, making it the largest roof solar system in the state, according to Gloucester’s director of economic development Doug Meredith.
The project is part of Dominion’s Solar Partnership Program, in which Dominion leases rooftop or ground space at commercial, industrial or public facilities for installation of solar panels. When operational, the panels at the Gloucester facility will generate more than 500 kilowatts of electricity, enough to power about 125 homes.
