Jamestown Settlement’s Godspeed, above, in a photo by Tom Lakin, made an impromptu trip up the East River on Tuesday, docking overnight at Williams Wharf. The Godspeed took part in last weekend’s OpSail 2012 Virginia at Waterside in Norfolk. The Godspeed left with the other tall ships on Tuesday, detouring to Mathews County instead of heading up to Baltimore, the festival’s next port of call. In photo at right, by Bob Ruegsgegger, masts of sailing ships, like that of the Coast Guard Barque Eagle, at left, filled the horizon at Waterside last weekend. Tall ships from Mexico, Brazil, Denmark, Spain, Colombia, Canada and the United Kingdom were among the vessels taking part in this international celebration.
