New 4-H agent joins Mathews extension office
Mathews County has a new 4-H agent.
Mary Lee Andrewskiewicz, a May 2013 University of Florida graduate, has taken over the 4-H program from Nancy Roche, who retired earlier this year.
Originally from Ocala, Fla., Andrewskiewicz grew up in 4-H, focusing on the dog project, in areas such as obedience, agility and rally. She also did the swine project in high school.
She remained interested in 4-H during her years in college, where she majored in family, youth and community sciences. Her last semester at the University of Florida, she did an internship at the Marion County 4-H, serving as a program assistant.
Andrewskiewicz decided that she wanted to keep doing 4-H and applied for job openings up and down the East Coast, landing the job here in Mathews. "The county just seemed to really fit," she said, with Mathews reminding her of her community back home.
