Neighboring residents concerned about possible plans for Billups Creek site
Neighbors of a piece of property on Billups Creek in Moon that has been donated to the Middle Peninsula Chesapeake Bay Public Access Authority for a park aren’t happy about the prospect of having such a facility in their neighborhood, but PAA spokesman Lewie Lawrence said their objections are premature.
There is no project currently underway, said Lawrence, and no plans are being made for the property yet. As a matter of fact, a management team that will be responsible for overseeing plans for the property hasn’t even met yet.
"We’ve received a gift," said Lawrence. "How it’s managed still needs to be determined."
Lawrence said that the Public Access Authority has a successful model for developing such properties that has been replicated over and over again.
"We empower the people that live there to make the decisions," he said.
