Near-perfect weather prevails at G.I. Festival
Festival organizer Cricket Call said she estimated between 3,000 and 4,000 people visited the arts and crafts booths and other activities around the Gwynn’s Island Civic League building.
“The weather makes for a great festival,” Call said, as did the efforts of the many people who worked tirelessly planning and organizing the annual event.
“The music was fantastic and the food was incredibly good,” she said.
Call said arts and crafts booth organizer Brenda Rice and festival volunteer Carol Sharp played integral roles in bringing this year’s event together. “They made my life so easy,” Call said, as did Coles Buchanan who handled parking seamlessly.
Rice said vendors seemed to have a good time and made some good sales. “At least half of the new (vendors) told me they want to come back next year,” she said. “The main comment I heard was how much fun they had.”
Rice said everyone at the festival was so friendly. “Even if they didn’t sell as much as they had hoped, they said they were having a good time just being there.”
