Narcotics sweep in Gloucester schools comes up empty

Warren said the sweeps began in Peasley and Page middle schools and concluded with a search at Gloucester High School. He said the schools went into extended lock-down sessions while the searches were conducted.
Classroom instruction was ongoing during the sweeps, Warren said, with only a few randomly chosen classrooms briefly evacuated so that narcotics detection dogs could enter. Otherwise, the sweep was primarily through secured hallways and locker areas. He said the dogs were also used for closer inspections of specific vehicles at GHS that were visually identified by officers as suspicious.
Warren said the search efforts resulted in the discovery of various violations of school code (such as the possession of cigarettes), which were handled by school administrators, but no narcotics were found.
The GSO initiated the sweep with the full cooperation of Gloucester County Public Schools.
