MVRS celebrates 50th anniversary June 23

The Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad is celebrating its 50th this year with a Golden Anniversary Open House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 at the squad building, 94 Cricket Hill Road, Hudgins.
The public is encouraged to stop by and spend some time with squad members, said a press release. Activities will include a medical helicopter landing at 1 p.m., the opportunity to sit in and tour ambulances and a fire truck, a bounce house for children, and free barbecue, chicken, and hot dogs.
A pictorial history of the squad and state-of-the-art medical equipment will be on display.
“The Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad is 50 years old, and we are proud of it,” according to a news release.
